Satya - truth in Sanskrit, is one of the five Yamas, or rules for living in an ethical manner, according to the yogic philosophy outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.

Sat Nam in Gurmukhi, Sat means truth. Nam means name.  Together, Sat Nam essentially translates into something deeper: “I am truth,” or “Truth is my essence.”
